Ever since I can remember I have embraced Christmas with warm, open arms. It's more than just a time to celebrate; it's a feeling of peace and prosperity that acts as a blanket of warmth you can curl up in all season long. December means it's time for hot chocolate drinking, carriage riding, light seeing, picture taking, movie watching, gift giving, and most importantly, it's time to celebrate our Saviors birth! Christmas always makes me think of this Neal Maxwell quote..."Each of us is an innkeeper who decides if there is room for Jesus." Let's do our very best to not get so caught up with the worldly celebrations during this beautiful time of year that we forget what we're truly celebrating.
The Bush family is starting a new tradition this year; an advent calendar! Justin and I have wanted to do one for a few years now, but could never find one we truly liked that didn't have a price tag only Rockefeller could afford. So this year, we made one (pictures coming soon)! Each day, starting the 1st (today) and ending on the 24th (Christmas Eve) there will be a small bag with a piece of candy for Miss Felicity, a Christmas activity, and a Bible verse in it. The Bible verses are chronological and tell the story of Jesus' birth. If you'd like to do this as well, you can get the printable here. Today's Christmas activity is wrapping our Christmas presents and the Bible verse is Luke 1:26-27. We're so excited to start this new tradition as a Family and watch it become an exciting part of Christmas for Felicity in the years to come!
I want to encourage everyone to be intentional this season in their celebration of both Christ and family. Let His love flow through you by bringing warmth, kindness and generosity into a world that's all too often cold and broken. Wishing you the very merriest of Christmases, from our family to yours.
